Nature experience in the beautiful Kochertal

Published: 25.11.2020

In the district of Schwäbisch Hall, the small community of Braunsbach is located with nearly 2,600 inhabitants. It is characterized not only by its incomparable nature, but also by the 185-meter-high Kochertal Bridge.

If you would like to get out and enjoy fresh air and nature, Braunsbach offers a variety of leisure activities. The beautiful valley invites with much forest and the river Kocher for hiking, biking and canoeing.

After a long day of exploring, your cravings can be fed in our restaurant, for example with a delicious Dry Aged Beef. Meat lovers beware: Significant for our region is also the Schwäbisch-Hällische Landschwein, whose origin can be traced back to King Wilhelm I of Württemberg in 1820. These pigs are known as robust and stress-resistant animals. Gourmets enjoy their particularly tender, juicy and aromatic meat, which creates an outstanding taste due to the natural bacon coating.

See you soon in Braunsbach.

Out and about in the Allgäu

Published: 25.11.2020

As a native of Durach I have countless opportunities to explore the entire beautiful Allgäu region. So for me, the main thing is to be outside. Whether it's a strenuous hike or a leisurely walk, mountain biking with friends or a long cycling tour, running in the forest or swimming in the lake, all this is fun - everywhere in the Allgäu.

On the many great playgrounds and adventure trails, which I like to explore with my family, you can be a bit of a child yourself. The great panoramic view (see above) you can enjoy from the Stuimändle adventure trail on the Ofterschwanger Horn. For even more adventure, we like to go on excursions to dizzying climbing forests or ride a fast summer toboggan. And if the weather isn't quite so nice, the Allgäu is it anyway.

Where others spend a city trip, I am at home – B a m b e r g.

Published: 27.10.2020

The city of Bamberg was first mentioned in a document in 902 AD. With its approx. 77,000 inhabitants, it is the most important centre in Upper Franconia. The so called "Franconian Rome" is built on seven hills, with each hill of the mountain town having its own significance. Whether the Michelsberg with the St. Michael's monastery, the Stephansberg with its beer cellars, and so on: the mountain town is always a great experience.

In addition to the mountain area, Bamberg also has an island town with the only "old" town hall built in the river, from here you have a wonderful view of the former fishing village of Little Venice. Medieval half-timbered houses are lined up along the river Regnitz which flows through Bamberg.

I love to explore my Franconian homeland on foot or with my motorbike. Bamberg is surrounded by four well-kown tourist areas: the Franconian Switzerland, the Hassberge Nature Park, the Upper Main-Jura area and the Steigerwald. All of them are unique and different, but incredibly beautiful.

An important point about my home is the fact that we have the worldwide highest density of breweries in Bamberg. Bamberg has a long tradition as a beer town; the first documented serving of beer dates back to 1093. In 1122 the first documented permission to brew beer was granted to the Benedictines on Michelsberg. Today the Franconian Brewery Museum is located on this site. A specialty of the brewers in Bamberg is the dark smoked beer

I would be very pleased to welcome you to Bamberg and the surrounding area. I am available as a private tour guide with great pleasure.

My workplace is where others spend their holidays and that in the beautiful Allgäu.

Published: 27.10.2020

As a Duracher I recommend a visit of our beautiful Kempten forest. Especially in autumn it shows itself in full splendour. Various circular paths offer nature adventures for young and old. A real highlight is the "legendary" Dengelstein, an eight-metre high erratic block from the Ice Age. This boulder is always worth an excursion as a real primary rock.

Whether on foot or by bike, in the Kempten Forest everyone will find their way. If you just want to take a breather, this is the right place. Plenty of places invite to stop for delicious Allgäu dishes, if you are looking for a refreshment.

Those who still haven't had enough after a tour through the Kempten Forest can enjoy the wonderful mountain view from the Flugplatzcafe in Durach. Here you can not only enjoy the great mountain view, but also book a scenic flight. If you are looking for an adrenalin kick, you can also do a tandem jump from a plane. At 712 metres, Durach airfield is the highest facility of its kind in Germany.

I say goodbye and see you soon in the Allgäu.

Up high I like it best.

Published: 29.09.2020

To choose between one of the numerous Allgäu mountain tours with their incredible peaks would really be too much to ask. I consider myself very lucky to be able to face the tricky question again and again every weekend: "Where will I hike up this time?“

And never has my choice disappointed me, because no matter how difficult or easy, how steep or flat, how stony or grassy the climb was, the moment to reach the summit is magical every time. So close to the clouds, from where everything seems so small and endless, I feel pure happiness and gratitude.

Especially this year the Allgäu mountains have attracted a lot more hikers than usual. Two ways to escape the crowds: Choose the particularly difficult tours or the particularly unknown and maybe at first sight unimpressive treasures. This way you can get the chance to have a summit all to yourself!

My hiking recommendation for you: If you ever go hiking in the Allgäu mountains to enjoy peace and nature - avoid the hotspots (mostly tours in connection with mountain lakes) and keep an eye out for the hidden treasures. It's also always worth putting on your hiking boots before sunrise.

The Erdinger Holzland allows you to let your soul dangle.

Published: 25.08.2020

Being born in Munich, 22 years ago I moved to Erding, which became a „big district town“ in 2013. The town is particularly well known since the construction of Munich Airport in the Erdinger Moos and the construction of the Erding thermal baths, the largest in the world. Last but not least, the whole world knows Erding because of the famous Erdinger Weißbier.

Due to my work as a sales representative, I spend many kilometres in the car every week. The perfect balance for me is cycling. I prefer to go on a tour through the Erdinger Holzland with its quiet woods and wide hills.

The city of Erding itself has a lot to offer in terms of leisure time. Every summer the Sinnflut Festival takes place with countless exhibitor stands and music performances. In addition to other festivities such as the Erdinger Herbstfest and the famous Swedish Games, there is always a beautiful Christmas market with an artificial ice rink in the centre of Erding.

To relax completely, I like to leave the region from time to time and retreat to our chalet in Sudelfeld on weekends. The best way to get around is to take your bike and explore the region.

Since childhood the Notzenweiher has been „my swimming lake“.

Published: 28.07.2020

In the 17th century the Notzenweiher was dammed up to supply the Princely Abbey of Kempten with fish. Unlike other such lakes, it has survived to the present day.

Today the Notzenweiher is a moor lake. The largest part of the lake is a protected area surrounded by reeds. Only in the northern part it is possible to swim. There you can find two sunbathing areas, a kiosk, a beach volleyball court and a wooden platform that floats in the water.

If you feel like hiking, there is the Notzenweiher-Runde, a 5.5 kilometre long circular trail that leads over wet meadows, through the green of the Kempter Forest and up to the Schwedenkapelle (Chapel of the Swedes) near Hochgreuth. Starting point for the hike is the parking lot "Notzenweiher".

The Notzenweiher is located between Kempten and Marktoberdorf (B12 exit Wildpoldsried). If you drive in the direction of Hochgreuth, you have an unbelievably beautiful view of the "small lake" and the Allgäu mountains.

For me, the Notzenweiher has been "my bathing lake" since my childhood. From from my hometown Wildpoldsried it is only 7 kilometres uphill - mostly my after-work-bike-tour.

Maybe we will meet sometime for a swim, a hike or a ride.

A u g s b u r g - History lovers are just right here.

Published: 24.06.2020

A popular destination in Augsburg's city centre is the route between St. Ulrich's Church and Maximiliansstrasse, one of the most art-historically significant streets in southern Germany, all the way to Rathausplatz. Along this road there are three splendid fountains, Hercules Fountain, Mercury Fountain and Augustus Fountain, as well as the Schaezler Palace and the City Hall, which is considered the most important secular Renaissance building north of the Alps.

The 70 m high Perlach Tower was built in the 10th century as a watchtower and is today, in the ensemble with the neighbouring Augsburg Town Hall, a landmark of the old imperial city and serves, among other things, as an observation tower. Among many other worth seeing destinations in Augsburg like the Cathedral, a boat trip in the historical district Jakobervorstadt or the Augsburger Puppenkiste in the old town, I definitely recommend a visit of the Fuggerei. The Fuggerei is the oldest existing social settlement in the world. In 1521 the terraced house settlement was donated by Jakob Fugger and is still inhabited today. The 140 apartments in the 67 houses are currently occupied by 150 needy Catholic citizens of Augsburg for an annual (cold) rent of no more than 0.88 Euros.

Augsburg's old town also has something to offer for every taste in culinary terms.
My personal tips:

  • "Bodega é Tapas Bar La Bomba" offers excellent Spanish tapas
  • If you prefer Hellenic food, you should visit Nikos Tavernaki (Attention: Reservation is essential!). Nikos Tavernaki is a nice little tavern, where you can feel like on holiday in Greece... There is no menu, the three changing main courses are announced by Nikos personally and about a dozen small starters (Mezé bowls) can be combined as you like.

Oy-Mittelberg - where the sun smiles longer.

Published: 27.05.2020

At the former end of the A7 motorway you will find the Allgäu metropolis of Oy-Mittelberg. Our municipality has almost 5,000 inhabitants and 44 districts. As one of the 200 inhabitants of the beautiful village of Haslach am Grüntensee, I consider myself very lucky.

Can you imagine a better place to live than in the middle of meadows, mountains, forests and the beautiful Grüntensee? Whether after a hard day's work or at the weekend, the local recreation area for sports and relaxation is always right on your doorstep to recharge your batteries. Together with my husband I enjoy nature regularly and to the fullest. Whether on the bike, on a hike or on an evening walk, our village has a lot to offer.

Should you ever be in the area, be sure to plan a hike or bike tour to the largest hiking bench in Germany. The district Mittelberg, with a height of 1035 m.a.s.l. one of the highest in Germany, invites you to explore the panorama path - with an amazing view of the East Allgäuer mountains. And the best thing is: Even with children the trail is great as there are plenty of opportunities to play.

Goslar - the beautiful imperial city on the Harz Mountains

Published: 30.03.2020

More than 1500 half-timbered houses in the old town and the Rammelsberg mine are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and offer magical moments to every visitor. I enjoy being in my city and would like to invite you to visit the Harz Mountains and of course the city of Goslar. Have a look at the beautiful market place in the old town, the Kaiserpfalz and the Rammelsberg. The carillon at the market place at 09.00, 12.00, 15.00 and 18.00 o'clock daily is an experience for every visitor.

And finally, I would like to invite you to the Christmas market in the Tannenwäldchen for a delicious mulled wine. Let us work together to overcome the crisis to enjoy a mulled wine togehter in December.

Let me know if you are around.

A trip to the Öschlesee in Sulzberg (Allgäu) is always worthwhile.

Published: 30.03.2020

Regularly I enjoy the peace and quiet the water radiates. Whether on foot, by bike or on a relaxed horse ride. To take a deep breath in winter or to swim in summer - the Öschlesee has its charm in every season.

You have a wonderful view of our "Wächter des Allgäus", which you can see in the background. The Grünten Mountain is a popular hiking destination for locals and tourists. The partly exhausting hike is rewarded by a fantastic view. With a cool beer on the summit you can enjoy it even twice.

If you are heading to the Allgäu, you should definitely plan a hike on the Grünten or a few hours of relaxation at the Öschlesee. The Allgäu is the perfect destination to recharge your batteries and experience the nature after Corona.
